Description

Hiking and climbing tour from the Zbojnícka chata (1960 meters) to Sedlo prielom (Polish: Rohatka, 2290 meters).

Proceeding from there to Poľský hrebeň (“Polish ridge”, 2200 meters), descent to Sliezsky dom (1670 meters) and to the finishing point Starý Smokovec (1010 meters).

Sedlo prielom is a mountain saddle in the Slovak part of the High Tatras (Vysoké Tatry) mountain range.

Note: every height stated is AMSL, i.e. Above Mean Sea Level.

You may consider wearing a helmet when there are people above you for loose rock may come down.

As opposed to as it is presented here, it is probably more convenient and also safer to traverse the saddle the other way round, that means ascending from Zamrznutý kotol and descending to Kotlina pod Prielomom.

The technical part of this tour is rather short, yet comparable with the more difficult sections of the Orla Perć trail in Poland. Chains and metal steps are attached to the rock on said part.

Special note: The general visitor is not allowed to climb beyond Zbojnícka chata in winter for there is a winter closure in the Slovak High Tatras.
