Vysoká

Ascent to Vysoká (High Tatras)

Description

Hiking and climbing tour from Štrbské Pleso (1355 meters AMSL) to Vysoká (2547 meters AMSL) via Chata pod Rysmi (2250 meters AMSL).

Vysoká (Polish: Wysoka), sometimes referred to as the “Matterhorn of the Tatras” or the “Slovak Matterhorn” (I suppose in terms of aesthetics this title is more appropriate for Kriváň), is a conspiciuous peak in the Slovak part of the High Tatras (Vysoké Tatry) mountain range.

Notes and recommendations

Moderately difficult climbing starting at sedlo Váha (2337 meters AMSL), yet in no place above UIAA II on the normal route in my estimation (and there is metal such as chains attached to the rock to make it easier).

There are no markings for it is not an official tourist trail, so the challenge might be not getting lost rather than the technical climbing part.

I would highly recommend wearing a helmet.
